So its that time of year again where we set unreal expectations that are out of the window quicker than the fitness DVD you ordered has even arrived!! Just me? Whoops! Joking apart I do think January is a good time to make some changes, with the busy period of Christmas over I like to work on things that make feel healthier and better about myself. Something that falls into that is giving my skincare and beauty routine a bit of an overhaul, here's my 5 beauty resolutions that I'm aiming for this new year, hopefully it will give you some inspiration as to setting yours...
1. I will set a routine and stick to it
I am always telling my clients not to overload or confuse the skin when it comes to their routine and i was doing exactly the same. Layering your products is great for instance using an oil under a serum before applying your moisturiser, but using various serums/oils and lotions on different days is just too much. I have thought about what my skin needs at the moment, picked the products that will treat that and I will stick to it.
2. I will self tan more
It makes me feel good so why not! I hate being pale this time of year, fake tanning makes me feel healthier and more confident but I've gotten out of the habit, it also means i look after my body more I exfoliate and moisturise my skin more to help maintain the tan so it's good for that too!
3. I will wash my make up brushes
Again something I go through phases of doing, my foundation and concealer brush should be done once a week and the rest once every 3 weeks.
4. I will wear SPF everyday
I know the importance when it comes to anti ageing of protecting my skin against UV rays but I get out of the habit if the weathers bad or if I'm not going outside much so I will just wear it everyday and then always be protected.
5. I will have a beauty clear-out
I have so many products with a tiny bit left in the bottom, as soon as i get something new i move onto it without fulling finishing the previous ones. I also have lots of things I've tried and didn't like or don't suit me especially with make up so I will have a clear out and either throw out, finish it or pass on to someone else that will use it.
Hopefully I've inspired you to make some beauty resolutions too!
