A skin condition is more something that can come and go and tends to be brought on by external factors, another example of a skin condition is spots/breakouts. So no matter what your skin type you may also be experiencing dehydration too.
Fact: Dehydration is caused by a lack of water in the skin rather than oil.
What causes it?
Dehydration can be bought on by weather conditions, or being outside alot in severe conditions, central heating or air conditioning in the house/work or car, temporary illness, stress, lack of sleep or poor diet. Don't mix lack of oil with lack of water you may have an oily skin type but still be showing signs of dehydration.
What are the signs of dehydration?
- Feels tight but can still look oily/shiny
- Absorbs moisturiser really quickly
- Blackheads and spots can still appear
- Make up can be patchy or dissapear
- The skin can appear ashy
- Dehydration can affect specific areas aswell as all over for example it may be just the eye area that is showing the signs of dehydration
What products to go for?
- You should be looking for products that use the words "hydrating" or "hydra"
- Don't use anything too harsh
- Serums are good as they are lighter
- If its the eye area that is dehydrated make sure your using a specific eye cream
