I hear it so many times in a day from my clients... "I don't have enough time" and I completely understand where there coming from but if you want to keep on top of a good skincare routine and your prepared to invest in a skincare brand to help you with that you need to work out a way to ensure your getting all those lovely products onto your face! So here's a few tips I find help me save a bit of time and ensure I keep on top of my routine:
- Do your evening routine as soon as you get home- if I'm not going out after work, I take my make up off and do my evening routine as soon as I get home, I find this way I am more inclined to spend a little bit more time on it and I find it helps me relax after the day and ready to unwind.
- Mix your exfoliator in with your cleanser- this is such a simple one, mix your facial exfoliator/scrub in with your cleanser, my personal favourite at the moment is the Elemis Skin Buff mixed with the Elemis Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing Oil, this way your'e not having to do an extra step and then you can apply a mask and carry on with whatever you need to do around the house.
- Set aside evenings that you know work with your schedule- I pick Sunday and Thursday evening to do an exfoliation and mask as I know these days work well in my week, some weeks I might miss one day but at least I know I will have done it once a week.
- Mix your moisturiser with serums/oils- if you use a facial oils or serums but feel that's too many steps just mix them together, I mix a facial oil in with my night time moisturiser it just cuts out one step.
- Find products that you can sleep in- The Elemis Pro Collagen Quartz Lift Mask and Elemis Absolute Eye Mask are both fine (and actually more beneficial) to sleep in so require no extra time as your'e just applying these products instead of your usual eye cream and night cream but your skin is getting an extra boost. This one only really works well for masks that are 'creamy' and designed more for drier skin. Masks designed for oily/combination skin that are often clay based of 'set' on the skin aren't recommended to leave on for that long.
- Choose your products wisely based on the time limit you have- go for wash off cleansers you could take in the shower, or moisturisers that are also suitable around the eye area. Don't buy something that you've seen raved about in a magazine if you know that in reality you won't use as it doesn't suit your lifestyle. So hopefully some of these tips will help to save you some time and make sure the products you have are used and don't end up in the "pile of products you spent alot on and must get round to using one day". Comment below with any tips you have that help you save time.
